I work in real estate as an independent contractor. I raised my sons on my own, have had my own business, had a successful career in civil engineering in a male-dominated field, bought and sold several homes on my own, and in all this, was free to fail or succeed on my own. What a great opportunity! I am not sure I could have done all this anywhere else but in the United States. In gratitude, here are some thoughts and quotes about this great nation:

“This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.” ~Elmer Davis

America is much more than a geographical fact.  It is a political and moral fact – the first community in which men set out in principle to institutionalize freedom, responsible government, and human equality.”  ~Adlai Stevenson

“Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.”  ~Abraham Lincoln

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” ~ John F Kennedy

“The boisterous sea of liberty is never without a wave.” ~ Thomas Jefferson

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” ~Benjamin Franklin

“It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it.” ~George Washington
