When you buy a home, you are also buying into the neighborhood. Make sure you do your due diligence by checking out the area at night and on weekends a few times to familiarize yourself with it, and really get a feel for the community. Check out the nearby shops, churches and places to eat.
Does the area have the amenities and conveniences you require regularly? Is it near a desired school or park? Does it meet your privacy and security needs? Is it near your friends and/or family? How about the commute? It might even be wise to take a walk in the neighborhood, and if you meet a resident, speak to them. Ask questions. Most people are happy to give you some local news and insight.
